What's Zappening?


ZAP Coaches Take Their Coaching To A Higher Level

ZAP's Head Age Group Coach Shari Twidwell was elected Pacific Committee Coach of the Year in July. She will receive her award at the upcoming ASCA (American Swim Coaches Association) World Clinic in Indianapolis at the end of this month.

At the same time, Head Coach DeAnne Preyer, who was selected to be a member of the ASCA Fellowship Class of 2011, will attend special sessions, designed especially for the Fellows, during the week-long ASCA clinic.

"This is a great way to end our first 10 years and start the second chapter of ZAP," said Coach Preyer. "We've set a great foundation in the past 10 years, and now it's time to 'E11evate In 11,' which is our theme for the new year," she said.


ZAPPERS Excel In Pier-to-Pier

Two of the 25 members of the ZAP age-groupers and Masters swimmers who competed in this year's Pier to Pier swim on August 1, finished in the top 10.

Matthew Harmatz finished fourth overall and first in the 16 and under category with a time of 41.45. Danielle Wong finished 5th overall for women, and second in the 18-24 category with a time of 45.13.

Other ZAPPERS who joined the competition were:

Men 17 and under: Kevin Fink, Matthew Fink, Patrick Fink, Wyatt Kircher, and JJ Kuwata.
Women 17 and under: Bree Swenson, Dani Swenson, Celeste Goodwin, Claire Harmatz, Erika Torres, Genna Abele, Katie Draffen, Erica Bender and Audrey Steen.
Girls 18-24: Amanda Atkins
Women 30-34: Jenn Douglass
Men 35-39: Phil Ambrose
Women 40-44: Caroline Kircher
Men 45-49: John Martin, Tor Hovind, Brian Sheps
Women 50-54: Marisa Solomon

ZAPPER Zoe Colomer Paddles To "C" Win in International Race

In her first paddleboard race ever, Zoe Colomer placed first in the Girls C Division of the Hennessey Paddleboard Championships on July 10. Other ZAP winners were Elle Inscore, who won the B Division for girls, and Hogan Inscore who won the coed Cadet Division.
